
Ven Shin Pannyathara was born on 26 October 1974 in Sue Pyit San
village, Thit Ya Kuk group, Magwe Town ship, Myanmar. His parents
are U Khin Maung and Daw Htwe Hla and he is the fourth son among
the seven brothers and sisters.
He passed his matriculation in 1990 at Magwe no. 1 High school.
In 1991, he was ordained as novice monk, named Shin Panninda
with Myat Le Su Sasana Yeiktha Sayadaw Ven U Vinaya as his
preceptor. He practiced meditation for three months under his
guidance. Then he returned to his native town, re-ordained by Ven
Sayadaw U Sumana and renamed as Shin Pannyathara. He studied the
Buddhist scriptures at that monastery and helped the Sayadaw with
teaching Buddha's Dhamma to the children in order to follow the
Buddhist cultures.
On 12 February 1993, he was ordained as a noble monk with Ven
Sayadaw U Sumana as his preceptor and was sponsored by his parents.
He then studied successfully the primary, secondary and higher
levels of Buddha Dhamma under the guidance of Ven Tipitaka Sayadaw
U Kudhala and other teachers at Maha Yadanayama Pali monastery,
Magwe. For the Dhammacariya level, he learned for three years at
Masoe Yein Priyatti monastery, Mandalay. In 1997 he attained B.A.
degree in Burmese and Pali from Magwe University through distant
learning education.
In 1999, he practiced intensive Vipassana meditation at Hmawbi
Chanmyay Yeiktha Meditation centre for two months under the
guidance of Ven Chanmyay Sayadaw. He also helped with the teaching
of Buddhist cultures to children who came to the Centre during
the summer holidays.
From 2001 Oct to 2005 July, he taught the Buddha Dhamma Pali
canon and commentaries at Maha Yadanayama Pali monastery,
Magwe.
In 2005, he returned to Chanmyay Yeiktha Meditation Centre,
Yangon and practiced Vipassana meditation intensively for three
months. Since then he has become meditation instructor and junior
teacher under the guidance of Ven Chanmyay Sayadaw sharing his
Dhamma knowledge.
From 2009 July till 2011 November, he went to South Africa to
distribute his knowledge of Buddha Dhamma as part of propagating of
Buddha Sassana under the instruction of the Ven Chanmyay Sayardaw.
There he spent as resident abbot at Dhammodaya Myanmar Vihara
Buddhist Monastery, Chanmyay Yeiktha, 30 Mckay drive, Ashburton,
Pietermaritzburg, South Africa to practice and teach the Dhamma to
both local and international practitioners.
With the permission of the Ven Chanmyay Sayardaw, Chanmyay
Yeiktha Meditation Centre was established in Singapore on December
2011 and since then Shin Pannyathara resides as abbot at Chanmyay
Yeiktha Meditation Centre Singapore teaching vipassana meditation
and abhidhamma to the devotees.
May Buddha Sassana be shining like a sun. May all beings be free
from all kind sufferings.
